September Newsletter

Dear Chamber Members,
Like me, many of you will be pleased to see progress being made on a number of redevelopment schemes in the town, all of which will contribute significantly to the local economy and shopper experience. The Market Street road enhancements will finally complete long awaited work to improve both street scene and pedestrian safety.
The former Arriva bus depot is no longer a derelict eyesore with demolition and ground works well under way ultimately to provide 38 additional local homes. Finally, the Post Office refurbishment will offer a modern environment, extended opening hours and also access to a wide range of Post Offices services including Post Office Card Accounts and everyday banking services.

These are exciting and challenging times for us and the Chamber has been continually lobbying both public and private sector to make the necessary investments to help regenerate our historic market town. It’s been well long overdue! However, we know more needs to be done and a recent borough high street survey carried out by local students on how we can improve our high street even further has been published. It’s provided some significant observations and you’ll find a quick summary of headline findings and suggested improvement proposals in this newsletter……all very interesting!
