Wellington regeneration latest

cliftonTelford & Wrekin Council and Wellington Town Council have joined together to implement the recommendations of the 2020 Vision Report. The Borough’s Council’s involvement will focus on the pragmatic delivery of specific projects and activities coordinated by the Development Delivery Group Specialist, Phil Edwards who is based at the Civic & Leisure Centre Offices. The main focus in the initial stages will be the delivery of key priority sites that have been vacant or require re-development drawing on Phil’s commercial expertise in unlocking stalled sites. In addition issues such as vacant retail space, the market, accessibility between places, encouraging residential development and more sustainable retail offerings whilst strengthening the destination and its strategic marketing will all be investigated and implemented where possible.

The two Council’s will meet regularly and have agreed an Action Plan which was endorsed at The Borough’s Council Cabinet meeting on 11 December 2014. Priority projects include the former Charlton Arms Hotel in Church Street and the former Arriva Bus Depot at Charlton Street where residential development is anticipated on both sites. If you have any comments let the Chamber know….you’re views are important!
